The International Birding Symbol (IBS) is designed to provide a universal identifier for the birding and bird conservation community. The IBS was created by longtime birder, writer, environmentalist, photographer and artist Christopher Cudworth. The design features a swallow image in a triangle with a colored background. This symbol can be reproduced on products to create awareness and provide a ready identifier for individuals and groups involved in birding. Even though there are logos and identifiers for every type of organization in the world, there is no single identifier for birding as an activity. This universal symbol can be used to promote an organization, region, state or nation with the simple addition of a name, flag or other logo to the bottom of the design.
Imagine a community of birders who know to look for the IBS symbol in the field or other public places. The IBS can promote birding goodwill, education, communication, awareness and conservation by providing a universal symbol that says "I'm a birder, are you?"
