Christopher L. Cudworth

Christopher L. Cudworth is a writer, artist and illustrator whose publication credits include more than 1000 articles and columns for newspapers and magazines. He has interviewed celebrities such as Erma Bombeck, Danny Bonaduce, musician Paul Winter, comedian Tim Allen and violinist Midori. His writing has appeared in publications such as Runner's World Magazine, Fox Valley Living Magazine, Chicago Parent and Crain's Chicago Business. His work for newspapers includes syndicated and feature material for Copley Newspapers, Shaw Newspapers, Paddock Publications/Daily Herald and the Chicago Tribune. Christopher served as editorial writer and columnist for Illinois' 3rd largest newspaper the Daily Herald (www.dailyherald.com) in 2000.

In 2008, Christopher earned the People's Media Award from Associated Content for his article "Coping with cancer: Getting Past the Fear to a Purposeful Life." His researched perspectives advised on how to be a caregiver and how cancer cancer patients can work with the medical community to get the best care. Christopher also received the December, 2008 Top Writer award for work on Religion and Spirituality.

From 2000-2007 Chris served as marketing manager for Paddock Publications where initiated progressive marketing and branding programs such as the West Suburban Theater Connection, Big Ticket Reading Project, Chicago Fire Home and Away Promotion, as well as working with major non-profit organizations such as Illinois Special Olympics, Northern Illinois Food Bank, American Cancer Society and America Heart and Stroke Associations. For his work in non-profit advocacy, Christopher helped earn the Daily Herald. the Media Partner of the Year award from Special Olympics Illinois (2005).

Christopher is a public speaker and educator who has directed a series of public forums titled “Role of Faith in Community and Media” (2001-2002) featuring Dr. Roy Larson of the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary at Northwestern University. These forums attracted hundreds of religious leaders from suburban and city communities of Chicago to meet and discuss religion in society and the news media.Christopher recently completed his first book titled "The Genesis Fix: A Repair Manual for Faith in the Modern Age," which addresses the impact of biblical literalism on politics, culture and the environment.


Christopher has also conducted public symposiums on drug abuse prevention, environmental management, literacy and diversity. He is the founder of the Big Ticket Reading Project (www.bigticketproject.com) a regionally based literacy support program in partnership with 62 public libraries in suburban Chicago. The program serves more than 100,000 children and is sponsored by National City Bank, Panera Bread, Culver’s, Scholastic Books and 27 regional cultural attractions such as Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute of Chicago and Kohl Children’s Museum. The program was awarded the Media Advocate of the Year Award (2005) by the North Suburban Library System (www.nsls.com). Now, this successful program is being expanded to cover the entire Chicago market through the Reading Rewards program in partnership with Hammer Marketing, Chicago Parent Magazine, Daily Herald, NINE FM and more than 30 commercial sponsors. Final roster of participants will be announced March 1, 2008.


In the world of children's literature, Christopher performed in "Adventures in Storytelling, Illustration and Song," an interactive professional stage production that played to more than 9000 children at Candlelight Dinner Playhouse between 1996-98. He has composed two series of children's books being submitted for publication in 2006. The first is a set of wordplay books titled “Thast Finkers and Thick Quinkers.” The other series draws on his background in natural science to create stories using examples of evolutionary behavior in animals to teach lessons about morality, responsibility and fun to children.

Christopher has been a guest on a number of radio and television programs including a role as a daily news reporter on a local stationWFXW AM 1480 from 1989-1994. Christopher also wrote a radio spot that earned him the top national award from Suburban Press Association (SNA). He has also appeared in promotional spots and interviews on ESPN, The Score, Sports Channel and The Golf Scene (cable television).


A capable public speaker and community leader, Christopher is former President of Batavia (IL) Rotary, former President of Batavia (IL) Chamber of Commerce, past Board member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, past Sunday School instructor and featured writer and illustrator in the St. Charles (IL) Literature Festival. Christopher has given talks and lectures to Geneva (IL) Women in Business, the DuPage County Women's Entrepreneurial Conference and Expo at College of DuPage, The Fox Valley Art Institute of Chicago educators training conference, and has been a guest lecturer on the subject of public relations at Roosevelt (Schaumburg, IL) University and at the College of DuPage Women’s Entrepreneurial conference.

Christopher is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa where he majored in fine art and English. He was a member of the NCAA Division III cross country squad that placed 2nd in the nation. He is working on a book about the value and drawbacks of athletics titled “Competition’s Son.” In 2006 Christopher launched his website, www.naturesymbol.com and the Human Nature Project, an interactive art and writing website to encourage greater awareness of the human role in nature worldwide. The site features his daily blogs and feature articles as well artwork, illustrations and wearable natural design products.

Christopher has also enjoyed success in the field of art. His posters, fine art reproductions and original paintings have sold thousands of copies and hang in homes and businesses throughout America. His poster design for the Brazosport Run for the Arts placed in the top 5 Cream of the Crop Contest from Runner's World Magazine and his artwork has been featured on the program covers for Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
